”Some of these tunes are as close as to the written source as can be, some were learned by ear while others started as a short series of notes that arrived on a car journey, a walk or in the middle of the night.
Some started life by reading a tune book upside down and a couple were found by seeing what happens when you stand as far away from a tune book as possible while still being able to follow the shape of a melody.
Some were re-formed by taking a load of old tunes to bits and piecing them back together to make something new.”
