”There were Swedish pancakes and lingonberries sold along Clark Street, but there were far more food vendors hawking Mediterranean, Thai and Mexican cuisine.
’One of the things we’re most proud of is our diversity,’ said Ellen Shepard, executive director of the Andersonville Chamber of Commerce.
An estimated 20,000 people will brave the heat this weekend to enjoy the 40th Annual Andersonville Midsommarfest, a celebration of the neighborhood’s Swedish heritage.
But the culture represented at the festival didn’t stop with Swedish. The t-shirts sold by the Andersonville Chamber of Commerce said it best: “Swedish… and then some.”
