Ett sätt att använda internet som jag inte tror någon kunde förutsett:
”VotePair.org is a site where swing-state progressives whose first instinct might have been to vote for Nader, Cobb or Badnarik are paired with Democrats (and others whose first choice for President is Kerry) in ’safe’ states where either Bush or Kerry has a decisive lead. Paired voters can communicate with each other and decide to vote strategically: swing-state participants for Kerry and safe-state participants for Nader, Cobb or Badnarik. As a result, the paired voters’ support for progressive third parties is recorded in the popular vote and their preference for Kerry over Bush finds voice in the Electoral College.”

It may be an unexpected use of the Internet. However, it is a truly rotten idea. The big problem with Nader, Cobb and Badnarik is that the American electoral system does not allow for third party candidacies. Until the system is reformed, there is no place for these spoilers. As Hunter S. Thompson put it in Rolling Stone (http://www.rollingstone.com/politics/story/_/id/6562575?pageid=rs.Home&pageregion=single7&rnd=1098389941612&has-player=true&version=6.0.12.872): ”Nader is a fool, and so is anybody who votes for him in November — with the obvious exception of professional Republicans who have paid big money to turn poor Ralph into a world-famous Judas Goat.” That applies to any fool who encourages the supporters of Nader, Badarnick, and Cobb.
Better to put one’s energy on reforming the electoral system so as to make third party candidacies viable. See my entry (http://www.typepad.com/t/trackback/1141146).
In short in America,the way the system works – or doesn’t- third party candidates, unfortunately, must not be encouraged. Period.

Jag lyssnade en gång på en mycket upprörd amerikans förklaringar att tvåpartisystemet var det enda sant demokratiska. Man lär sig nåt nytt varje dag.
